Job Title: Casual Drivers (Minibus)

Job Type: Casual, Part-time

Hours: As required to cover absence

Salary: £10.07 per hour


We are recruiting for Casual Minibus Drivers to work as and when required to cover periods of holiday and sickness for our two part-time drivers. You will assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and reliable transport service to our  clients who attend the Thornycroft Centre in Pontefract, and you may be required to travel to and from other locations for the purposes of the charity. This role will also support and assist other colleagues with the delivery of services within the Centre and community when required. The hours are typically a split shift pattern of 7.30am-10am and 2.30pm-5pm, however these times can very slightly depending on the route.

 

Responsibilities of this role include ensuring clients are transported to and from the Centre in a safe, courteous and timely manner including those with disabilities or mobility issues; where appropriate, support clients to access and exit the vehicle, including the safe operation of the vehicle’s tail lift; and assisting colleagues and Centre Co-ordinator with the delivery of services within the Centre as and when required.


You must also be able to identify any safeguarding concerns regarding client welfare and ensure that any concerns are reported immediately to the Centre Coordinator; ensure the vehicle is serviced and maintained according to safety guidelines and legislation; carry out and record daily maintenance and safety checks of the vehicle, report any discrepancies/faults, and remedy where possible.   


You must have a full UK driving licence with D1 category, and a MIDAS qualification would be an advantage.  You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; an understanding and empathy with the client group, excellent customer service skills; an understanding of safeguarding and health and safety of the client group; the ability the use own initiative and problem solve with a professional, friendly and caring manner.  You will need to be flexible to work spilt shifts and have a good standard of education including GSCE Math and English (or equivalent).


Previous driving in a work capacity and an understanding of the issues faced by former miners and former mining communities would be an advantage. A uniform will be provided.For internal applicants, please complete an Expression of Interest Form available on PeopleHR.
