CISWO Personal Welfare Service

Posted: 11-04-22

Our Personal Welfare staff are pleased to be out and about in local communities again and have received a warm welcome from our clients.

We supported many former mineworkers and their families throughout the pandemic with shopping, prescription collection and through telephone support.  It was good to resume home visiting last July as restrictions eased and we look forward to seeing more of our clients in the coming months.

CISWO continues to provide a confidential, free of charge, home visiting service to provide advice and support to former employees of the coal industry and their families (telephone appointments can also be arranged if preferred).  This includes support and advice regarding:-

•    Welfare benefits, including industrial injuries disablement benefits and industry related compensation schemes
•    Disability and mobility issues and help to access mobility equipment
•    Financial assistance at times of exceptional hardship to access CISWO and other grants
•    Caring responsibilities and support through illness, loss and bereavement

These are just some examples of the support available and we welcome referrals from new clients, as well as previously known clients.  For further information or to make a referral, please contact your local regional office by telephone, post or email
