Thornycroft Social Centre

Our social centre in Pontefract provides a range of services, helping to reduce loneliness, a chance to socialise and make new friends, and access a range of  activities including:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Snooker, pool, darts and outdoor bowling
  • Games and quizzes, dominoes, cards and bingo
  • Guest speakers and presentations
  • Day trips and outings
  • Themed parties with entertainment
  • Gardening club and greenhouse
  • Hairdressing and chiropody services

A hot home-cooked meal is provided daily.

Transport on our disabled access minibuses can be arranged to collect and return to home.
The Centre is open 9.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday and is open to all but particularly those from former mining communities.

Room Hire

Thornycroft offers a range of flexible spaces for external room hire for meetings, events and other activities. Rooms include our conference room, seating up to 20 (board room style) or 35 theatre style and hall, including stage, that can be used for shows and performances seating an audience of up to 180. Smaller meeting rooms are also available. Regular and single bookings accepted. Catering can be provided on request.
