In each CISWO
regional office there is a Social Work team available to offer advice
and practical assistance to any member of a coalfield community who
would like help with any health related, financial or other personal or
emotional issues. The Organisation offers a generic social work service
to coalfield communities, as well as having specialist expertise in
working with disability and the challenges facing older people in
coalfield communities.
Referrals to the social work service are welcomed at regional
offices or through the head office in Whiston near Rotherham.
Regional areas have various project initiatives including
bereavement groups, women's groups, and reminiscence groups. Please
look for details of social work projects under our News Section and
Office Pages. The CISWO social work teams administer applications to
various schemes of benefit for those who work or have worked in the
mining industry and their families.
