"Operations" is the general heading for all the work which CISWO undertakes with and within mining or former mining communities. Regional Managers, based in our 6 regional offices, offer to the many mining charities (often known locally as Miners' Welfare Schemes) the support they need in legal and management matters. Financial advice is also available, in conjunction with CISWO's Finance Team.

A modest programme of activities is mounted in every area and there are conferences and training opportunities throughout the country.  The enhancement of the already extensive facilities at local Miners' Welfare sites is a priority. A major part of CISWO's work is in regeneration of mining communities and, through specific projects and successful partnerships, large amounts of external grant aid has been secured to renovate and renew, to re-establish and make relevant miners' welfare provision in the UK.

Check our News Section and Office pages regularly for details of projects in your area and the Miners' Welfare Guidance Pages.

Ian McAlpine (Scottish Regional Manager), presents a cheque from the Scottish Coal Industry Special Welfare Fund to the Lothian's Group Welfare Committee to assist with the years activity programme.
