The CISWO Trustees are very pleased to announce that they have appointed Nicola Didlock as our new Chief Executive. Nicola brings to CISWO a wealth of experience and knowledge which will help the organisation move forward to meet the challenges ahead. Nicola was previously the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Fundraising at Spurgeons, a leading charity in children’s work and family support.

Nicola has previously worked for Sheffield Futures and Turning Point and brings to us a breadth of experience that will help us develop new ways of working as we move into the post mining context.

Nicola is replacing Vernon Jones MBE who left CISWO in August after 30 years as our Chief Executive, having managed the organisation through its transition from part of the nationalised coal mining industry to the largest charity working with those who were employed in the mining Industry.

Nicola took up her post on the 22nd of August 2016

As a registered charity CISWO 2014 is managed by a Board of Trustees. Click on Governance "Trustees and Management" for more information.

It has a Head Office based at Whiston.

There are 5 Regional offices, 3 in England and 1 each in Wales and Scotland. Each office has a local Personal Welfare Services team, led by a Qualified Social Worker.

A team of Regional Managers supervise the delivery of these services and in addition provide support to the remaining miners ' welfare and mining communities.

Roughly based on the old nationalised Coalfield areas it seeks to provide local and accessible services to all those who worked in the mining industry and to their wives and widows.
